The Ireland Program was initiated in 2007 through the vision of then-President Tom Girardi, and under the stewardship of Patrick McGroder, to create a prototype for international programs in addition to the Academy’s highly successful China Program. From these beginnings, the Ireland Program has grown and flourished into an officially recognized program of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. The Program's chairs are Patrick McGroder and George Haley. |

During the 2012 Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors approved the concept of an international initiative that had been discussed informally over the years – sending several Fellows from the United Sates to collaborate with International Fellows in another country in order to plan a presentation to members of the bench and bar of that country on a topic of interest to them. Former President Bobbie Pichini championed the formal adoption of the International Collaborative, and serves as Chair of the Task Force. The successful pilot program was held in Dublin, Republic of Ireland and Belfast, Northern Ireland in April 2013 with over 200 attendees present. Additional collaborative programs have since been held in Mongolia and Israel. |
