For the Academy Coalition Against Human Trafficking, the Academy is partnering with the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking (USIAHT) to develop TraffickingFree Zones on a large scale. The TraffickingFree Zone initiative is a community-based strategy to combat sex trafficking which focuses on creating sweeping change in a particular location. The initiative involves demand reduction tactics, comprehensive agency training, widespread awareness and education efforts, and community partnerships. The program is implemented in collaboration with government officials, community leaders, law enforcement, businesses, schools, healthcare organizations, local agencies and nonprofits, and the media. A proclamation regarding the establishment of a TraffickingFree Zone takes place in the first phase of the initiative. As the Academy is leading this program and fully supports the adoption of the proclamation, linked here.
