IATL at the Border

We invite Fellows and family members to join the International Academy of Trial Lawyers for a unique volunteer opportunity.

Due to the Academy’s dedication to supporting the Rule of Law and concern for the humanitarian crisis at the border of the United States and Mexico, we have developed a program where Fellows and family members can volunteer directly with asylum seekers.

Legal Track
After training, attorney participants will provide legal assistance to the asylum seekers. No prior knowledge of immigration law is needed, and there is no requirement for continued legal representation after the program.

Humanitarian Track
Participants will provide humanitarian relief to the migrant encampments and shelters in the form of provision of supplies and meals. They will also provide childcare, if needed, during legal assistance periods.

Program Details
The program will be held May 15-20, 2020, in both San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Mexico. A valid passport is required to travel between the countries. More information about the program is available here.

Space is Limited
Please register as soon as possible as space is very limited for this program.
