Honoring artistic excellence within the Academy community and serving as a reminder-Art by its Nature whether public or personal, has a lasting value.

Glenna Goodacre 1939-2020

Glenna Goodacre is best known for the Vietnam Women’s Memorial in Washington, D.C., this work reshaped the national memory of women’s experience in war through sculpture.
 

Rooted in the Academy community through her husband, IATL Fellow Michael Schmidt, her legacy is carried forward by the Glenna Goodacre Creative Arts Awards, established by the IATL Foundation in 2022 to recognize creative achievement across the Academy family.

Call for Nominations

Nominations are now open to fellows, spouses and domestic partners. Eligible individuals may nominate others—or themselves—for consideration. If you or someone you know exemplifies excellence and meaningful impact, we encourage you to submit a nomination and help us celebrate outstanding contributions within our community.  This round of awards will be given out at the Mid-Year Meetings in Younteville, CA July 21-26

Tricy Magadini is an architect whose work treats the spaces where daily life unfolds as social and cultural propositions, not simply formal ones.

Through BM Architects, her practice engages architecture as a way of shaping how people live, gather, and recognize themselves within a shared world. 

Her work reflects he kind of creative practice the Glenna Goodacre Creative Arts Award was created to recognize—art that engages public life with clarity, intention, and human scale.

Tricy Magadini is a seasoned professional architect. Her award winning talents are boundless and her creativity is demonstrated in the beautiful structures she designs. Tricy is a pleasure to work with because she spends time with her clients learning about them. Her designs can be found around the country, are cutting edge and reflect a sound knowledge of her field. The IATL family is enriched by Tricy's membership.
